A Hudson Valley man who Connecticut prosecutors say used Snapchat and TikTok to manipulate teenage girls into sexual abuse schemes has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison.
James Pagliaro, 27, of Middletown, New York, was sentenced Thursday, May 8, in federal court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

CT Bestiality Case: Second Arrest Made In Animal Sex Abuse Investigation
A week after a Connecticut woman was arrested and charged with filming herself sexually assaulting her dog, a man has also been charged in the case.
Damon Mesite, 28, of Meriden, was arrested on Friday, May 8, and charged with aiding and abetting sexual assault of an animal, aiding and abetting sexual assault of an animal by creating or distributing pornography, and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image, police said.
He was ordered held on a $10,000 bond, Meriden police said.

Plainfield Man, 72, Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child: Police
A Connecticut man is behind bars after police said he sexually assaulted a minor.
Timothy Atwood, 72, of the Moosup section of Plainfield, was arrested Thursday, May 7, after an investigation by the Plainfield Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, authorities said.
Police said officers first received a report in February involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor. Investigators then opened a case into Atwood.
During the investigation, detectives determined Atwood allegedly engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with the minor in November 2025, police said.

A pickup truck driver was killed on Wednesday night, May 6, after he went off the road and crashed into the front of a Connecticut house, authorities said.
Matthew James Sherman, 42, of Foster, Rhode Island, was identified as the driver killed when his truck crashed into the Killingly home at 1356 Hartford Pike, Connecticut State Police said.
Investigators said Sherman was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra west on Route 101 when he misjudged a curve, sending his truck off the road, where he hit multiple mailboxes, a street sign, and then the home.
