A business owner has been sentenced after admitting she lied to a federal grand jury investigating her brother, former Massachusetts State Sen. Dean Tran.
Tuyet T. Martin, 56, of Pelham, New Hampshire, was sentenced in a Boston federal court on Friday, June 5, to two years supervised release and a $40,000 fine, according to the US Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.
Martin pleaded guilty in January 2026 to one count of obstruction of justice, the prosecutor said. She was charged alongside her brother in June 2024.

A Connecticut man who lives in the home where a woman was found dead earlier this year has turned himself in to police after being charged with strangling and threatening a woman he met on a dating app.
Cole Werhan, 28, of Burlington, turned himself in to police on Wednesday, June 25, and was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree threatening, and second-degree strangulation/suffocation, according to Connecticut State Police. His bond was initially set at $100,000 before a judge raised it to $750,000.

A police officer was killed while responding to an emergency call Friday, May 29, after her patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Central Berks Police Officer Kristen Yeager, 42, a married mom of three from Boyertown, was responding with emergency lights and sirens activated when the crash occurred on West Philadelphia Avenue near Manatawny Road in Earl Township, state police said.

A Massachusetts man was killed after being ejected from his motorcycle during a crash with a pickup truck on I-91 in Connecticut on Memorial Day, police said.
Juan Miguel Martinez, 26, of North Hampton, Massachusetts, was killed following the 8:30 p.m. crash south of Exit 39 north in Windsor, Connecticut State Police said.
According to investigators, Martinez's 2010 Ducati Streetfighter rear-ended a 2019 Toyota Tacoma, sending the motorcycle into a jersey barrier. The impact launched him from the bike, and he landed in the southbound lanes.
