A cinema, a warehouse, and a church in the Harrisburg area have all closed after suffering severe damage due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby as it made its way across Pennsylvania. Central Pennsylvania was hit hard by heavy rain and high winds on Thursday, Aug. 8. Homes Evacuated As Flash Floods Hit North Eastern PA
Homes were being evacuated in Lycoming as the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 12:34 p.m. on Friday in effect until 2:30 p.m. for Lycoming County. Evacuation announcements are occurring in the areas of Upper and Lower Cottage Avenue of Old Lycoming and Lycoming Townships, police said. Storm Downs Power Lines, Closes Roads In Lehigh, Northampton Counties (

Area police reported scattered outages as wind and rain pulled down power lines. Lower Saucon Township police reported that Lower Saucon Road was closed between Woodland Road and Woodland Hills Court due to a tree down on power wires. Upper Saucon Township police reported that Oakhurst Drive was closed between Stonesthrow Road and Old Bethlehem Pike due to utility lines across the roadway. The incidents were reported late morning on Friday, Aug. 9. Meanwhile, due to the severe weather, the Doylestown Township Administrative Offices closed at 2:30 p.m.

Tornado Watch Shifts, Now Covers These Counties Across NJ, PA As Debby Creeps In
The National Weather Service has shifted its tornado watch across New Jersey and Pennsylvania as Hurricane Debby creeps in. In New Jersey, the tornado watch is in effect through 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 and covers Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties in North Jersey. Storm Update: Water Rescues As Flooding, Downed Trees, Wires Close Roads In Eastern PA
Downed trees and power lines had closed roads after the storm in Eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Aug. 7, authorities said. The remnants of now Tropical Storm Debby will move north along the eastern U.S. through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Bucks County first responders reportedly made nine water rescues overnight after up to 5 inches of rain fell. New Round Of Thunderstorms Could End Sunny Day In NJ, PA, Weather Service Says
The National Weather Service says another round of thunderstorms is right around the corner. Wednesday, May 29 will start out sunny with a high of 78. Come the late afternoon, showers with "a few thunderstorms" and a chance of downpours are likely across New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania, the NWS says. Storms are expected to being around 3 p.m., with a higher chance of heavier rain in North Jersey than South Jersey. Showers could stick around into Thursday, May 30 , which will will be mostly cloudy with a high of 75, the NWS says.
