Shoplifting, DWI Arrests, Pedestrian Crash Highlight Wyckoff Police Blotter
Wyckoff police reported a series of arrests and investigations involving shoplifting, drunken driving, and vehicle-related incidents in a department blotter released Friday, Dec. 12, which dates back to early fall (see attached).
On Thursday, Dec. 4, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Monroe Avenue, police said. Bergen County players turned scratch-offs into serious cash last week, with two big wins hitting just days apart.
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, a $10,000 prize from the “$5,000,000 Fortune” game was sold at Krauszer’s, 184 Godwin Ave. in Midland Park, New Jersey Lottery officials said.
Then, on Friday, Aug. 22, luck struck again in Bergen County. A ticket from the “Big Money Spectacular” game worth $30,000 was sold at Route 4 Petroleum LLC, 70 Route 4 East in Englewood, officials said.
That adds up to $40,000 in lottery winnings across Bergen County in less than a week.

A 33-year-old former school district employee has been charged in a lewdness investigation in Bergen County, authorities announced.
John C. Stewart, a former substitute teacher in Fair Lawn, is accused of breaking into Thomas Jefferson Middle School on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4, and masturbating in the hallways, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
During one of the instances, children were present for a summer activity, Musella said on Wednesday, July 9.

These Bergen County Towns Flipped From Red To Blue In 2016, 2020 Presidential Elections
Bergen County voted primarily Democratic in the 2020 Presidential Election, with many municipalities having flipped from red to blue since the 2016 election.
In 2016, 231,211 Bergen County residents voted for Hillary Clinton and 175,529 voted for Donald Trump. Bergen County remained Democratic in 2020, that year, with 285,967 residents voting blue and 204,417 red.
According to the University of Florida's Election Lab, 862,101 New Jersey Democrats and 554,951 Republicans have already voted in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Three Powerball tickets winning $50,000 from a drawing earlier this month were sold in New Jersey.
The numbers from the Wednesday, Oct. 2 drawing are 01, 02 21 37, and 43. The Powerball drawn was 21.

Bonchon, a Korean fried chicken franchise, announced a planned expansion in Hudson, Union and Morris counties. The franchisee, Seung Kim, said he is currently searching for specific sites for the fried chicken joints and an opening date has not been announced.
