A 24-year-old Hudson Valley woman was killed after crashing on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened in Ramapo around 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, on the southbound side of Interstate 87 near Exit 14A, in the town of Ramapo, New York State Police announced.
Troopers said the driver, identified as Orange County resident Anysah P. Nelson of Middletown, was driving a 2016 Honda Civic when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the right shoulder of the highway and struck a tree.

A 14-year-old in Rockland County was found with a loaded ghost gun and the tools to make more after police raided his home, officials said.
The bust happened in Ramapo on Tuesday, April 29, following a five-month investigation into ghost gun activity, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh announced on Monday, May 5.
During the search, investigators say they recovered a loaded 9mm ghost gun, ammo, and equipment used to build firearms, including two 3D printers, filament, and other gun parts.

Two men transporting a large quantity of narcotics on Interstate 87 were busted during a traffic stop in Rockland County, authorities announced.
The bust occurred on Friday, Feb. 28, when troopers stopped a 2019 Honda Pilot for a vehicle and traffic law violation in Ramapo, New York State Police announced on Saturday, March 1.
The driver, Robert Morales, 57, of Rensselaer, and his passenger, Irving Prado, 51, of the Bronx, were questioned at the scene when a K-9 officer alerted officers to possible drugs inside the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search, police said.

A Hudson Valley man is headed to prison for sexually abusing a child for years, beginning at the age of nine.
Rockland County resident Elmer Oviedo Sandoval, 47, of Haverstraw, was sentenced to six years in state prison on Tuesday, Oct. 29, for the course of sexual conduct against a child, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh.
From 2016 to 2019, beginning when the victim was nine years old, Sandoval subjected her to sexual contact on multiple occasions while she resided in two separate residences in Ramapo, Walsh said.

A Hudson Valley man was caught in the act of allegedly defacing a joint American/Israeli flag with spray paint, police said.
The incident occurred in Rockland County around 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Monsey area of Ramapo.
According to Lt. Chris Franklin of the Ramapo Police, a patrol officer spotted the man wearing a face mask while walking on Main Street in Monsey.
