DWI Driver Crashes Into Branchburg Home: Police A 50-year-old Somerville man was arrested for drunk driving after he crashed his car into a home in Branchburg on Monday morning, Aug. 4. At 9:29 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Hillcrest Drive after a white pick-up truck crashed into the first floor of a residential home, Branchburg police said. The driver, Eric Wilson, was able to self-extricate, police said. Wilson had a laceration to his head and was treated on scene, police said. Sen. Booker Declines To Endorse Mamdani For Mayor: 'Let NY Politics Be NY Politics' When it comes to the New York City mayoral race, Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, is staying on his side of the river. In a CNN interview Tuesday, Booker declined to endorse Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist, who won the New York City Democratic mayoral primary in June. Motorcyclist Killed In Route 206 Crash: Police A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 206 in Flanders on Sunday, Aug. 3, authorities said. At 8:57 p.m., a white Jeep turning from Route 206 south onto Oakwood Drive North was struck by a black Yamaha traveling on Route 206 north, Mount Olive police said. The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was ejected off the bike and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. One occupant of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Guttenberg Man Brandished Knife During Fight: Police A 21-year-old Guttenberg resident was arrested and charged after he brandished a knife during a fight on Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. At 3:36 p.m., officers responded to the scuffle on Bergenline Avenue and 68th Street, Guttenberg police said. Danilio Martinez-Lopez was arrested following an on-scene investigation, police said. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, multiple weapons offenses, terroristic threats, hindering apprehension and disorderly conduct, police said.

Poll: Sherrill Leads Ciattarelli In NJ Gov Race Democrat Mikie Sherrill continues to maintain a lead over Republican Jack Ciattarelli in the race for New Jersey governor. A new poll from StimSight Research Poll for InsiderNJ has Sherrill, who currently serves in Congress, leading Ciattarelli 48% to 42%. Voters said affordability, 53% and taxes, 43%, were the two biggest issues in the election. Sherrill has a slim lead over Ciattarelli, 36% to 34% when it comes to affordability, but Ciattarelli has a big lead over Sherrill, 50% to 15% when it comes to lowering taxes. Sprayed For Good Cause: NJ Animal Control Officer Pays Price For Rescuing Skunk (Video) Robbie Lagonera learned the hard way that skunks have their own way of saying thank you. Lagonera, who works as animal control officer for Washington Borough in Warren County, rescued a skunk that was in a Hava heart trap that was thrown off a bridge into a creek to drown on Monday, Aug. 4. Unsafe Lane Change Leads To DWI Charge For Morristown Woman: Denville PD A 36-year-old Morristown woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Denville on Sunday, Aug. 3, authorities said. At 2:34 a.m., officers observed a vehicle making an unsafe lane change while traveling westbound on Route 10, Denville police said. During a traffic stop, the driver, Faith Altiner, exhibited signs of impairment, police said. Altiner failed several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, police said. Altiner was also charged with careless driving, reckless driving and unsafe lane change, police said.

Elizabeth Man Killed In Newark Double Shooting: Police A 33-year-old Elizabeth man was fatally shot in Newark double shooting late Saturday evening, Aug. 2, authorities said.
