On Friday, Aug. 8 at 9:29 a.m., officers spotted a dark colored Dodge Charger exit the Ramada at 28 Two Bridges Rd. so fast, it spun its tires and left marks on the roadway, Fairfield police said.  The driver, Jahari Pearson, a 28-year-old-Georgia resident, admitted to having a Taurus 9mm handgun in the center console of the vehicle. Man Struck By River Line in Riverside: NJ Transit A man was struck by a light rail vehicle on Thursday, Aug. 14, authorities said. At 8:30 p.m., the man was hit by the vehicle on the River LINE at the Pavilion Avenue crossing in Riverside, NJ Transit said. The man was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries, NJ Transit said.  There were no reported injuries to the 35 passengers and the operator on board, NJ Transit said.  River LINE service was suspended in both directions between Cinnaminson and Delanco Stations, NJ Transit said. NJ Transit police are investigating.

DUI Driver Crashed Into Woods: Denville PD A 60-year-old Morris Plains resident was arrested for driving under the influence following a crash in Denville on Friday, Aug. 8, authorities said. At 10:52 p.m., officers responded to a report of a black sedan that had crashed into the woods off Franklin Road, near the train overpass, Denville police said. Officers determined the driver, Marcie Levison, was impaired due to alcohol and/or drugs, police said Levison was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and careless driving, police said.
