NY Horse Trainer Guilty Of Animal Cruelty Dodges Jail Time: Authorities
A New York horse trainer convicted on three counts of animal cruelty will not serve any jail time, authorities announced Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Andrea Nussinow, 64, of Tivoli, will instead pay a $1,750 fine, spend three years on probation, and complete 100 hours of community service, the Columbia County District Attorney’s office said.
Additionally, Nussinow was banned from owning any horses, though she was allowed to petition the court to possess two horses in the future, according to prosecutors. All 13 of Nussinow’s horses were seized in her July 2024 arrest.

Several victims of a postal worker’s theft operation on Long Island have been identified, authorities said Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Jovanni Jamison-Lewis, 36, of Mastic Beach, was indicted Wednesday on 20 charges for the brazen scheme, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Jamison-Lewis worked as a clerk at Oakdale Post Office and routinely opened mail and removed gift cards, investigators said. When cops searched Jamison-Lewis’s home in November 2025, they found 20 pieces of stolen mail, prosecutors said.

LI Man Killed In DIY Car Maintenance Gone Wrong, Police Say
A Long Island man was killed in his own driveway Wednesday morning, Aug. 26 while working on a car, police said.
Nadeem Ahmad, 50, was working under a 2002 Toyota Camry in the driveway of his home in Selden, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
While Ahmad was underneath the vehicle, it became dislodged from the jack and rolled down the driveway at around 8:15 a.m., investigators said. The sudden movement trapped Ahmad underneath, according to police.

Long Island cops used a drone to help track and arrest a burglary suspect on Monday, Aug. 24, police said.
Isaias Miranda, 26, of Brentwood, broke into a home on Richmond Avenue in Lindenhurst around 7 p.m. Monday, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
