A group of 19, which included children, was rescued from flash flooding in South Central Pennsylvania on Friday, Aug. 9, officials announced. A cinema, a warehouse, and a church in the Harrisburg area have all closed after suffering severe damage due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby as it made its way across Pennsylvania. Homes were being evacuated in Lycoming as the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 12:34 p.m. on Friday in effect until 2:30 p.m. for Lycoming County. Evacuation announcements are occurring in the areas of Upper and Lower Cottage Avenue of Old Lycoming and Lycoming Townships, police said. Area police reported scattered outages as wind and rain pulled down power lines. Lower Saucon Township police reported that Lower Saucon Road was closed between Woodland Road and Woodland Hills Court due to a tree down on power wires. Upper Saucon Township police reported that Oakhurst Drive was closed between Stonesthrow Road and Old Bethlehem Pike due to utility lines across the roadway. The incidents were reported late morning on Friday, Aug. 9. Meanwhile, due to the severe weather, the Doylestown Township Administrative Offices closed at 2:30 p.m.

A driver was rescued from flash flooding in Lancaster County on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, fire officials explained. The flood water came from Pequea Creek quickly trapping one vehicle This on Route 324 just north of Silver Mine Road in Pequea Township, Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company officials detailed. Downed trees and power lines had closed roads after the storm in Eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Aug. 7, authorities said.
